Need To Relax? Are Artificial Palm Trees The Answer?

I recently read a blog post about using artificial palm trees as a way to create a relaxing environment in an aquatic center at a college. I thought to myself, I think they are right. Sure when I want to relax from the day-to-day grind, what I do is picture myself on a white sand beach, temperature perfect, a little wind, the waves crashing around me and palm trees all over the place. Just that image in my mind can bring a calming effect to me and relaxes my whole body.

So the question is, where else can artificial palm trees be used for relaxation, what types of artificial palm trees should be used, how many should be used and where should they be placed? All good questions. I don’t have the answer yet, but I am going to investigate until I find them.

I believe some locations need a relaxing atmosphere and others do not. For example, having a swimming pool with a lot of children and/or celebrations don’t need a calming atmosphere, but having palm trees there would add to the theme. What about a spa or some other treatment center? Yes, of course, that totally makes sense to have and want a relaxing environment. The main thing for using artificial palm trees, of course, is being indoors, but outdoor artificial palm trees make sense in locations where they are not native, say for example, in the Midwest of the United Sates.

In reality, it’s not just one thing that causes the relaxation. So it’s not the palm trees themselves that cause people to have a relaxing situation, but when you include palm trees in your landscape design, it will add to your relaxation. So landscape designers need to include these palm trees in the theme of a tropical environment and when they do, that combination of all of the plants and flora can bring that relaxation condition we all desire.
