In Part I we concentrated on supplying your bonsai plant the right amounts of water, humidity, food, and sunshine. This Part II will look into pruning, repotting, bug control, and the wintertime health of your juniper bonsai tree.
Pruning Your Juniper Bonsai
If your plant survived the winter you will notice new buds appearing on the tips of the juniper bonsai tree branches in the spring. Quite often the tree may have an additional spurt of new growth in the fall, also recognized by by the new buds on the tips of the branches. In the course of these periods of new growth you will need to pinch off these new buds to keep the branches from producing fast growing shoots and which causes your tree to appear relatively untamed. Would the Juniper bonsai thrive inside?
Juniper bonsai trees are outdoor kinds of bonsai and will not thrive inside. Ideally, you must place your Juniper bonsai in a location where it will obtain morning sun as well as afternoon shade. Water the Juniper plant on a daily basis and be vigilant to not let it dry out. Many plant shows include Juniper bonsais indoors, providing the deceptive notion that it is an inside tree, which it is not.
